This first essay is designed to get you used to the process of coming up with a research question, doing preliminary research to give yourself context about the problem, refining your research question (and maybe into a thesis) and then doing more research – all before drafting! We will also be writing an outline as an organizational tool.

Using research, write a paper in which you explore a unique, specific research question stemming from one of these prompts:
Am I living a healthy lifestyle? How do I know?
Is there any controversy surrounding this topic?
Is my media use impacting my writing and/or my academic performance?
How do I know? Is there any controversy surrounding this topic?
Is there some behavior I do that I want to change? Why should I change it? How could I change it?
To do this, you will need to:
Formulate a focused, interesting, and answerable research question narrowed down from one of the prompts.
Understand the current literature (secondary research) surrounding this issue.
Analyze the data and present your findings.
