New Times Roman – 12 font The readings for session four are related to relational approaches to leadership. This approach to leadership emphasizes the relationship between the leaders and followers and the impact these relationships have on each other. For the written assignment on the relational approach you have to write a paper that demonstrates evidence of your understanding of the various aspects of transformational leadership. In order to write the paper, you should evaluate the behavior of a leader with whom you have interacted regularly or with whom you currently interact (could be your direct supervisor). If you are not currently employed, evaluate the behavior of a leader/manager from your past (make sure that you evaluate somebody with whom you have had interactions for an extensive period of time – more than 6 months). You don’t have to mention the name of the individual in your paper. Before you conduct the evaluation, please read chapter 8 on transformational leadership and gain a solid understanding of the key elements of this approach. As you think about your regular interactions with this individual, please explain whether this individual exhibits behaviors in accordance to the material discussed in chapter 8. If the leader exhibits the type of behaviors identified by this theory, explain what exactly he/she is doing and how the behaviors relate to this theory. If the individual is not exhibiting behaviors identified to be effective, please explain the reasons you consider that his/her behavior is lacking and what he/she should do in order to behave in accordance with elements of the theory from chapter 8 (you can use one of the approaches to transformational leadership discussed in this chapter – the 4 Is (idealized influence, inspirational motivation, intellectual stimulation, individualize consideration), or Bennis and Nanus’ approach, or Kouzes and Posner’s Five Practices of Exemplary Leadership approach). Make sure that you cite the proper readings and theories in your explanation. The paper should be 3-3.5 pages long (without the cover page and reference section) and should be written using the APA style (double space). Please make sure that you use proper writing style with proper grammar and proper formatting. Also, please include a cover page with the following information: your name, course number (FA2019G-S1) and course title (Theory & Pract of Leadership), and the title of the assignment and the date. PS – I don’t care who you use for the leader but for the purposes of this paper do not use my current supervisor. The teacher knows who my current leader is.
