The purpose of this paper is to discuss the causes and effects of the Civil War. So, what you will need to do is formulate an argument in which YOU state what you believe to the BIGGEST CAUSE of the war and the LARGEST EFFECT of the war; this is your thesis statement. Your supporting paragraphs will then discuss the minor causes and effects. You will need to support your idea with supporting evidence.
I. Introduction: introduce your topic and present your thesis statement.
II. Body Paragraphs: Begin with your major point for the Causes. Then follow up with your minor causes in the following paragraphs. THEN: Present your major Effect and follow with other points about the effect of the war.
III. Write a conclusion: conclusions are a re-statement of your thesis and a summary of the points that made.
IV. Bibliography page: A properly formatted bibliography with all of your sources. This includes both primary and secondary sources that you include in the paper.
