Aim:

This task is intended to provide facilities managers to review issues, challenges, and opportunities in the operation and maintenance of public buildings during pandemics through case study buildings of their choice. It aims to get facility managers to be able to reflect upon current practices particularly best practices that could be adopted and adapted in operating and maintaining not just public buildings but other types of facilities.

The Task:

This task requires that you work in pairs. You are to address the following points:

1. critically review literature related to the topic not limited to standards, best practices, and case studies locally, regionally, and internationally to identify issues, challenges, and opportunities

2. identify issues, challenges, and opportunities prevalent in a case study building of your choice

3. compare and contrast the issues, challenges, and opportunities found in 1) and 2)

4. propose a way forward i.e. solutions, recommendations that are: 1) specific for the chosen case study building; and, 2) general that it can be scaled up to be implemented in other public buildings beyond the case study building.
