5-6 pp paper (double-spaced) on “What is My Family Story?” This paper requires you to interview a relative, the older the better, about your family’s immigrant past. Then you will tell your family’s story, to the extent possible, in your paper. Frequently this paper is a collection of narratives about rowdy uncles, dangerous crossings, famous or infamous grandparents, or other things you may not have known about your own background. Most students use Thanksgiving break as an opportunity to interview family members for this assignment, but please conduct your interview as early as possible. This paper should also integrate material you learned in the previous assignment, as well as material we have studied over the course of the semester in texts and lectures. How does your family fit the models we have been discussing? An additional assignment sheet with more specifics will be provided.
