Okanagan College Key Concepts and Terms in Tourism Paper

I’m working on a business question and need an explanation to help me learn.

Chapter 1 history and overview

Summary Outline:

Each key concept summary should include the following:

1. Three Key Concepts:

a. Review the key concepts from the chapter. A key concept is broader than a key term. A concept is normally related to the learning outcomes from the chapter and will normally include several key terms. You should find an external resource to add to your understanding of the key term. Summarize the concept using the text and your secondary source in your own words. Cite and reference your sources in APA format.

b. Choose your favourite three concepts from the chapter to summarize.

c. Use a heading to identify the key concept. Write a three to four sentence summary of what the key concept is. Include a diagram if applicable. Then, write a three to four sentence description of how the concept can be used in tourism. You should find an external resource to add to your understanding of the key concept. Summarize the concept using the text and your secondary source in your own words. Cite and reference your sources in APA format.

2. Five Key Terms:

a. Review the key terms for the chapter.

b. Choose your favourite five key terms from the chapter. Remember, these should be from the key terms section of the chapter and should be different than your concepts presented in part 1.

c. Identify the key term (in bold) and write a definition (in your own words)

Note that the key terms from the chapter are critically important to learn. They form the basis of the “language” of tourism. They also form the basis of part 1 of the final exam. I recommend that as you go through the chapters that you create “flash cards” to help remember these key terms. A flash card has the definition of a key term on one side and its definition on the other. You should be able to read a definition and say the term that it defines. You should then be able to read the word and recall its definition.
