Objective: Summarize the key components of Psychoanalysis.

This course will review each of the primary theories beginning with psychoanalysis. The textbook has each theory laid out in the above-referenced format so that each one can be quickly compared to the others.

  • Review Chapter 2 in your textbook.
  • Write a 3-page paper that overviews Freud’s key constructs. Use the APA template and refer to The Trailblazer Handbook to assist with writing this paper.
  • To achieve maximum points, the following elements need to be thoroughly addressed:
    • In your own words, summarize a brief biographical sketch of Sigmund Freud. (introduction paragraph should be 3-4 sentences)
    • Discuss the id, ego and superego, Freud’s perspectives on the nature of humans, and his views of the structure of personality. Consider how these three concepts could correlate to a Christian worldview by addressing the sinful nature of humanity. (one page)
    • How might Freud’s early life experiences have influenced his conclusions about the Oedipus Complex? (1/2 page)
    • Likewise, share how your early life experiences shaped your personality into who you are today. (1/2 page)
    • Integrate a Biblical worldview (concluding paragraph should be approximately 4-5 sentences).
