I’m working on a literature discussion question and need a sample draft to help me study.
(200 words minimum) Webquestor Library Research on Dictator Juan Manuel de Rosas: this means that you steer your own investigation on this important figure. You will need to send me an email with a report of your findings. The email should be at least 200 words, summarizing at least three websites or one book you found and their content. You should clearly list these sources in a List of Works Cited (in the same document, following the text).You will receive a grade on this report (which should not look like anyone else’s in the class) and key biographical information on Rosas will be included on quiz 3. DO NOT CUT AND PASTE TEXT from a website. You need to understand the material and explain it in your own words.
(Minimum 250 words) Having read Echeverria and Sarmiento, and studied Rosas through your webquest, explain how they are all interconnected. Who are the Unitarians and Federalists in “The Slaughterhouse” and who is the Restorer? How are these various people depicted? What about Sarmiento? Who might he be describing in “The tiger of the plains” and what might be the implications and message of such a comparison? These are challenging questions. Reread them if you need to, but I’m sure this has the potential to produce some very interesting and insightful readings of the texts. (By the way, you will be realizing Close Readings this week, with elements of Biographical Readings.) By using the poetic devices to analyze the Bello poetry, you “picked it apart detail by detail to unveil hidden meanings” and by looking closely at the text while keeping in mind the biographical information on Rosas and the time period, you will be realizing a careful historical and biographical reading of the stories.
