Grant Example
A real-world example I have chosen is the Centerville Community support grant program. The implementation of the grant was to support community-based programming and raise awareness of cardiovascular disease prevention. The Centerville Community Center is a coalition community organization devoted to improving the health of its community, education achievement, human well-being, and opportunities for youth, adults, and their families (“Successful grant proposal examples: The ultimate list [in 2022],” 2021). In addition, objectives of this project include education on heart disease and related risk to cardiovascular health, implementation of activities designed to limit the risk of heart disease, and assist with plans that will help individuals live healthier lifestyles (“Successful grant proposal examples: The ultimate list [in 2022],” 2021). Outside of raising awareness on healthy lifestyles, the Centerville Community Center’s goals are to provide recreational and cultural programs for youths and adults, increase proficiency and life skills, and provide affordable food programs in the community.
Components of Project, Strength, and Weakness
The design of the project entails a budget, history, project summary, table of content, project goals and objectives, planned activities such as health fairs and screenings, exercise programs for all individuals in the community, follow-up/outreach coaches to monitor intake and exercise programs implemented for high-risk individuals for heart disease. In addition, the implementation of timelines, long-term sources/strategies for funding, and evaluations have been implemented designs to increase awareness on (CVD). The implementation of these designs helps with nutrition, exercise, stress reduction which are evaluated by pre-, and post-test put in place by the Centerville Department of Health and Hospitals (“Successful grant proposal examples: The ultimate list [in 2022],” 2021). One strength is that the Centerville Community Center generates thousands of dollars to help its community and has been a sustainable organization for over 19 years. However, a weakness is that not everyone can complete the evaluation stage of the program since it is only projected for 250 people to attend the health fairs and meet with physicians to receive information on health-related topics related to (CVD).
Design strategy
Regarding my capstone project, the use of interventional studies, research, and risk assessment study designs would all be acceptable. Each method helps reduce chronic illnesses in communities, provides statical analysis and risk factors in populations which in turn can help understand why funding and evaluation are necessary. Furthermore, intervention implementation strategies and study designs create combined detailed outlines of illnesses that can be used for years to come (Singh et al., 2021).
