Design a Nutrition Diet Plan (7 pages double spaced )

1. Research 3-5 diets. The following is a list of examples, but you can choose diets outside of these choices as well:

  • Atkins
  • South Beach
  • Keto
  • Intermittent fasting
  • Weight Watchers
  • Jenny Craig
  • Mediterranean Diet
  • Dash Diet
  • Vegetarian diet
  • Vegan diet
  • Paleo diet
  • Whole 30 diet

2. Find at least 3 scholarly articles on your topic. You can also incorporate information from news articles and reputable websites (.edu, .org, etc.) .

3. Describe each of the diets:

a. What are the “rules”? What foods are included/excluded?

b. How does each diet “work”?

4. Discuss the research:

a. How effective are the diets you researched?

b. How sustainable are the diets you researched?

c. What are the benefits of following the diets?

d. What are the negatives or possible dangers or downfalls to the diets?

e. Do certain populations benefit from these diets for reasons beyond weight loss? (for example, diabetics or people with heart disease)

f. Critically evaluate the research you reviewed- what are the strengths and limitations of the studies that could have impacted results?

5 – Research areas of the world, also known as the Blue Zones, have individuals living past 100. There are documentaries and videos you can view as well.

a. Discuss the secrets to longevity, including both diet and lifestyle

6- Based on everything you have learned from researching your diets and the Blue Zones, develop the “perfect” Nutrition Diet Plan.

  • Discuss what a typical day would look like: what foods and food groups would you be sure to include? Which foods might you limit?

  • plan a 1-day menu
