Story is told of an old man whose grandson rode a donkey while traveling from one city to another. The man heard some people say, “Would you look at that old man suffering on his feet while that strong young boy is totally capable of walking. Why is that kid on the donkey?
So then the old man rode the donkey while the boy walked. And he heard some people say, “Would you look at that, a healthy man making a poor young boy suffer and walk while he rides. Can you believe it”?
So the man and the boy both rode the donkey. And soon the man heard, “Would you look at those heavy bruts making that donkey suffer”?
So they both got off and walked until they heard someone say, “Talk about a waste, a perfectly good donkey not being used at all”.
So in the final scene, you see the boy walking and the man carrying the donkey.

Professionalism is the cornerstone for success. In this scenario, the old man may be presenting professionalism by adjusting his techniques during his journey. Nurses need to be professional 100% of the time. Like the old man, nurses need to assess clinical situations and make adaptations when warranted.
Topic areas: professionalism, ethics, communication, culture, bullying, health promoter, care provider, group process, holistic health, culture of violence and history. reference should be APA 7 format ( nursing journal minimum of 5 years)
