Instructions
The final assignment asks you to develop a short research plan that will become the foundation of your DBA program. This plan will evolve as you proceed in your program. Much of this document will be useful in your dissertation, especially the literature review. The headings for each section are in bold below, followed by what is needed in each section.
Introduction
Provide a short introduction to your research. Often this is a sentence or two that says why there is a problem, what the problem is generally, and what you plan to do. Essentially, this section gives the reader an idea of what they will see in the rest of the document.
Problem Statement
Identify the research topic. Justify that this topic is both a business topic and an applied topic. (Length: about one-half page)
Theoretical/Conceptual Framework
Identify a theory or conceptual framework that could be used for your study. Justify how it relates to your topic. (Length: one half to one page)
Literature Review
Provide a three-page literature review that covers the following:
- History of your topic. Justify it as a worthwhile topic. What is its impact on business?
- Evolution of your theory. Who came up with it, and how has it evolved?
Methods
Discuss your planned methodology. In future courses, you will explore methodologies in greater detail. At this stage, you are simply exploring options as to how you could study this research topic. It is recommended that you avoid mixed methods research as the time involved is significantly greater than a single method. (Length: one half to one page)
Population/Data Collection
Planned population/data collection. If you plan to do interviews, who will you interview? If you plan to collect data from a source, what will that source be? (Length: one half to one page)
Bridging the Gap
Discuss areas you feel you need additional knowledge to complete your research (e.g., statistics if you plan a quantitative study, how to perform interviews if you plan to do a case study).
Conclusion
Bring the entire study goal to a summation. This should be a short paragraph of what you would like to do, why you would like to do it, and what you will need to learn to do it effectively.
What impact does the Childcare System have on the Low-income Communities?
Low-income communities gain many benefits from childcare systems. For example, child care centres bring a sense of togetherness within the community. Childcare centres, just like other institutions, bring together families, friends, and even the government. Having such connections in the community helps all stakeholders involved become nurturers to the children. All stakeholders involved in child care offer practical support such as babysitting, transportation, and providing other resources required, such as food and clothes.
The togetherness and social networks created are essential for the whole community to achieve progress. Through the care systems, communities will try to meet the basic needs of their children (Bromer & Korfmacher, 2017). Parents will try to achieve their goals and raise their children in the best way possible. Childcare systems in the community, in some way, will be able to combat issues like unsafe neighbourhoods, homelessness, and family violence (Donoghue, 2017). Addressing such pertinent problems will lead to the growth of a safe community. Parents will also be taught ways they can strengthen their parenting skills.
Childcare systems lead to the formation of a solid and caring community. Children can interact with adults in a safe and caring community, therefore, getting different experiences. Children will also get the opportunity to understand other points of view, as they grow up healthy and safe. A childcare program within the community helps develop supportive relationships (Bromer & Korfmacher, 2017). Children get to know each other and get guidance from their care providers. Guardians get to have the chance to “meet and greet” with other parents, family volunteers, and an official from the government.
Childcare centres will also influence communities economically. A childcare centre is a type of business with employees. Having such a setup is in the interest of all of the community members. Parents who cannot afford such services will work harder to afford them in the future. Access to high-quality and stable childcare will have parents increase their labour hours or even pursue further education to become better providers to their children.
Childcare will also lead to the development of some of the sectors within the community. For example, areas such as public transportation and road systems might hugely develop. Childcare also leads to the development of strategic planning and early childhood education (Donoghue, 2017). Therefore, there should be enough attention given to the childcare system in low-income areas. The childcare system must receive sustained funding so that they are responsive to the community’s needs.
