New York University Multinational Fast Food Franchises Discussion

1. Review the submissions your peers made in Post A. Relative to the introductions, respond as you might in a traditional face-to-face classroom.

2. Select two of the international products, each one submitted by a different peer.  Which of the two do you think would be the most difficult to introduce into the US market?  Explain your reasoning.

3. Out of all of the international products submitted, which one would the more “adventurous” you most like to try (if you didn’t have to travel to some other country to purchase it)?

  1. The country and a state that I am assigned to are Costa Rica and Georgia.
  2. Subway has 64 restaurants in Costa Rica.
  3. Subway in Costa Rica offers a Costa Rican bread pudding, Budin, on its dessert menu. Budin is a cross between a custard and a bread pudding. It is traditionally made with stale bread, milk or cream, eggs, and oil or butter.

Another item that Americans may find interesting is the Tandoori Tofu Sandwich at Subways in India. The sandwich is made with tofu—a bean curd—with tandoori sauce, which is a curry and yogurt-based sauce that is commonly found in India.

  1. My assigned country and state are: Italy and North Carolina.
  2. In Italy there is not a franchise of Pizza Hut; however, there are Subway, McDonalds, KFC, Starbucks, and Dunkin Donuts. Some of these companies have limited franchise. For instance, Dunking Donuts are only located in Milan and Florence.
  3. After living in Italy for three years, I know firsthand that McDonald’s menu is a little different from the United States. Italy has variety of desserts available, and one of them is McCrunchy Bread with Nutella (see image below).

Another big difference in KFC menu between the U.S. and Italy are the side dishes. Italy has fewer side dishes available. The popcorn chicken is only available in Italy (see image below). One thing I noticed after eating at these two restaurants are the flavor, I realized it is catered more towards the local populace so it definitely brings something different to the table that can be interesting.regarding my assigned COUNTRY and STATE, they are as follows, respectively: Pakistan and Kentucky.

Thirdly, all of the given franchises, except Starbucks, are located in Pakistan.

Lastly, the two food products I found were from a McDonald’s in Finland and a KFC in Pakistan. The former being a burger that’s seated between two rye bread buns, the core containing a steak and your basic additions of lettuce, cheese, onions, ketchup, mustard, tomato, and pickles. It also has McFeast sauce which is new to me.

The latter is the Messy Xtreme burger. What stood out to me the most regarding this one is that everything is encased between two top buns. The contents are onions, tomatoes drizzled in mayo, and zinger fillet dunked in their spicy signature sauce. Is it just me or did anyone else get a slight twinge to find out what their secret formula is?
