INTRODUCTION
Now that you have read the assigned material you can clearly recognize that the idealism and activism of the New Deal (as with any government stimulus effort) did not always work, nor did it benefit all Americans equally. Mary McLeod Bethune may have been a part of the president’s cabinet, but the Scottsboro boys faced death or imprisonment for a thinly supported case.
