Book chapters 6&7 review

1) In Chapter 6, the authors discuss podium.me podcasts, including their intentions. Citing specific quotes from this part of Chapter 6 (“Podium.me’s intentions”, found on pages 129-133), summarize their intentions, as described in the reading, and then discuss your intentions with you podcast. (Keep in mind that just because your intentions may be different than those of podium.me, that does not make your intentions “wrong”.) Also discuss why you have the intentions you mention.

In case you’re interested, here’s where you can find podium.me’s content:

2) In Chapter 7, the authors focus on a production called “Blood Culture”. In the chapter, the writers discuss an “engaged community”. You are currently in the early stage of what I hope will be an ongoing connection with podcast and other media production. If you continue with your podcast (or some other media production), making a conscious effort to create an engaged community is an advisable approach. The book has touched on how to go about engaging an audience. Of course, gathering empirical data from audience members is tough to do at this point. However, here’s what I would like everyone to try, and include the results in this paper/audio recording:

Conduct an interview with a listener from outside our class. (If you are not sure who has listened, send someone you’re close with a link to one of your episodes.) Base your questions for the interviewee on the info that was gathered in the listener interviews described in the chapter. (Pages 166 to the end of the chapter) Include the results in your paper/audio recording.
