Project: Networking Interview

Do you want to have a career that enables you to earn a lot of money? If you do and you like working with computers, you may want to think about becoming a network administrator.

Network administrators serve a very important function in the business world. They design, install, and support an organization’s computer network. They make sure an organization’s computers are running and functioning efficiently. Most businesses today are unable to operate without computers, and computer use is growing at a rapid rate. For this reason, network administrators will be in high demand in the future.

For this project, you will interview two network administrators to learn about their jobs.

Objectives

• Describe how network administrators choose or build networks for their organizations.
• Discuss how network administrators evaluate their networks.

Directions

Interview two network administrators to learn:

• why their organizations use the kind of network they do—learn about the area the network covers, its model, and topology
• what security measures are used to protect the network, both internal and external
• how the network functions and what, if anything, the administrator would like to change
