Search online for examples of formative and summative assessment in your chosen content area and/or grade level. Share three examples that you feel are effective means of assessment with your classmates.
Your choices do not have to be related to technology. You do not have to select specific assessments (e.g. a test on The Scarlet Letter or the data report from an Accelerated Reader program). Also consider more general assessment techniques that give teachers information regarding student learning and understanding (e.g. KWL charts, exit slips, class newspapers.)
For each example, share one way that you might use technology to expand, replace, assist, or support the gathering of assessment information. For example, a KWL chart could be created using PowerPoint and individual student slides combined for a class presentation, or turned into concept maps using Inspiration or graphic mapping software, or the Want to Know section items posted to Edmodo with students working together to address each item. There are myriad possibilities depending on what the learning goals are, resources and time available, and student needs. Provide a brief explanation of how the technology provides added value in collecting assessment information for the teacher.
