elect a print advertisement for any product you like. You can look in magazines or online. Advertising Age usually profiles new ad campaigns as well.
Include a screenshot of the ad, and then work through a propaganda analysis for the ad using the six questions we posed back in unit 4 (Who is the Source? Audience? Who is Benefitting? What is the Purpose? What Means are used to influence? Is critical thinking encouraged?).
You might have to do a little research on the source of the ad; please include a reference citation at the end of the document if you do.
After your analysis, contemplate and describe your feelings about advertisements as propaganda. Do you feel they fall under our definition of propaganda–why or why not? Do you think that advertisements are a necessary piece of an open market? Do you think they are ethical?
