Write a detailed outline (minimum of two pages worth 20 points) and one essay with two parts (minimum of three double-spaced pages worth 70 points) thoroughly analyzing and discussing the following question. Include a standard works cited page of at least four entries (10 points).
Part I: Begin by defining your relation to power and privilege according to your race or ethnicity, and your ability level. Then, placing yourself within the framework of the racial identity development model, discuss your progress over the course of the quarter with respect to understanding your own racial or ethnic identity development. Next, analyze the impact of any two social constructs that affect you positively in terms of your privilege in systems in which you participate.
Part II: Focusing on your own lenses, use social construction theory to explain your current perception of and relationship to two groups of people defined as “the other”. Explain how your perception of and relationship to each of these two groups has developed over time. Integrate the discussion of specific “micro-aggressions” and the concept of “normative assumptions” into your essay.
