Summary of the issue: USE APA FORMAT 500-700 WORDS SINGLE SPACE
You are employed by a large public service agency and have been appointed by the Chief/Commissioner to draft a NEW social media policy for the agency. Based on your assigned background/position (see below, Group A), you need to provide a draft of the social media policy you have created for your agency and a paragraph to justify/explain your rationale in how you came up with the social media policy (ie. please help us understand your thinking). This first post should adhere to the course Discussion Board parameters of being between 500-700 words. If you currently work for a public service agency, you CANNOT simply copy and paste your agency’s social media policy for the assignment and describe how your agency came up with the policy; your role as a student should be motivating you to want to find ways to provide critical feedback with the hope of inspiring change. Keep in mind, at this time, the agency Chief/Commissioner has stated the only social media policy the agency needs is: “do not post anything to discredit the agency.”
Because this is an assigned position, you may not be able to relate to or agree with the role you have been assigned, but your fellow classmates, nor I, should know if agree with or relate to the assigned position. Sometimes, in public service, you are required to comply with a rule or policy with which you disagree, this is just one element of being a public servant.
If you are in Group A, you are: I am in group A
a front line officer/employee with a VERY active social media presence including a public blog with daily postings about how to be a “good” citizen and tips for interacting with public servants (ex. when you are stopped by a law enforcement officer you should remain calm and be polite). In addition, you have a tendency to post pictures to Instagram/Snapchat of poor decisions people make in public but yet the offender cannot be identified (ex. cigarette butt on the ground [Instagram post says “Don’t be a butt” {littering is against the law}]). Finally, you have a Tinder account where your Tinder profile picture shows you in uniform and your agency is only semi-identifiable, meaning only a very small portion of the agency insignia is visible.
