MPH 610 Ashford University Teen Pregnancy Among Hispanic Teens Paper

I’m studying for my Public Health class and need an explanation.

Part 1: For your Final Project, you will provide a comprehensive public health program proposal to a major funder for funding and implementation. Imagine that you a member of a non-profit or health organization and consider how your organization can meet that need if funding is obtained. Your Final Project should demonstrate your commitment to making a change in your community and a clear concise understanding of each component of the planning and evaluation plan, class reading assignments, class discussions, as well as your own research using other scholarly sources and application of new knowledge for your Final Paper and Screencast.

Introduction

  • Provide a brief overview of the health issue and its consequences. Be sure to provide recent data about the state of the problem. Next, write a problem statement that reviews the community selected, the problem to be addressed and the need it generates. Keep in mind that you must clearly communicate the need to your prospective funder. Thus, further research the problem and related need, its causes, occurrences and consequences so that you can effectively communicate them to your prospective funder.
  • Interview with stakeholders and key informants for planning and implementation.
  • Identify barriers to service including cultural, policies, or infrastructural barriers and discuss strategies to overcome them.
  • Conduct research on potential funders for projects, including demonstrating awareness of matching funder guidelines with project design.

Methodology

  • Discuss theoretical orientations to types of program designs.
  • Develop project goals and design measurable process and impact objectives for projects in domestic or international settings.
  • Describe clear and attainable goals for the project.
  • Discuss relevant policies important to the effective implementation of a public health program.
  • Discuss various service models (e.g., a mechanism or strategies for getting client feedback).
  • Design measureable objectives for the project, including process and impact objectives, their differences, and realistic scopes of service.
  • Develop a project implementation plan.
  • Design a staffing plan for the project.
  • Design effective data collection methods.

Evaluation

  • Design an effective evaluative component (explain in detail how this will be accomplished).
  • Design qualitative and quantitative assessment tools and when to apply them.
  • Design effective data collection methods.
  • Evaluate the effective implementation your public health program.

Budget

  • Develop a feasible, scalable budget, and budget narrative (outlining all cost in a sentence or two).
  • Design a realistic project budget, including personnel, operational, and administrative expenses.

The Screencast

Using what you learned throughout the course, in your Final Paper, create a three- to five-minute video or screencast* simulating a presentation to a major funding agency (e.g,. Kellogg Foundation, California Endowment, Annie E. Casey Foundation) to be presented as if you were giving it in person. In the screencast, you are presenting your program under the scenario that you are the director of a nonprofit program, and are advocating for funding support based on your plan. This presentation should not be a reiteration of the Final Paper. It should provide an overview of the program, how it was planned, and highlights the key sections of the proposal (e.g., needs assessment, methodology, how will you evaluate your program, and the budget). The screencast should present the program in a visually appealing manner with the key points that stimulate discussion, in order to provide a compelling case to garner support for obtaining implementation and funding.

*Note: Your presentation can be created using screencast software on your computer, the camera and microphone on your computer or handheld device, or the voice recording functions within a presentation program (like PowerPoint). Be creative and use your imagination.
