Moorpark College Talking Politics Reports

I’m stuck on a Political Science question and need an explanation.

Purpose

Talking about politics can be hard even in quiet times. Mix in a deadly pandemic, a contentious election and the largest, most wide spread protest movement in American History and just the thought of discussing politics can seem overwhelming. With a few simple strategies we can ease the tension and become more active citizens (and hopefully save a family dinner) when talks gets heated.

Tasks

  1. Read the PDF embedded below
  2. Use the techniques it discusses to engage in a discussion about politics. It could be a friend, family member, whoever.
  3. Write a brief report back on how the talk went. In 150-250 words reflect on how the techniques improved the conversation, how well you did and how your discussant did.

Criteria for Success

  1. This is a very low stakes activity. Just give it a try and report back. That’s all.
