Choose a consumer product or service that is not number 1 or number 2 in the market. This means no Coke or Pepsi, No Adidas or Nike, No McDonalds or Burger King. You need to pick a consumer product or service that has good strong growth potential. This typically means the product or service has something unique about it that consumers want. Come up with the product or service you want to use and have a back-up. No one can have the same product as someone else in the course and you need approval from the instructor prior starting.

Write up some background on the product or service and the company. Who are the product or services competitors? Why are they competitors? Who are the leaders in this category? Who is number 1 and number 2. Who buys these products and why do they buy them? This doesn’t need to be more than 2 pages with references.

This is the start to your marketing plan that you will develop over the 8 weeks of this course. The final week 8 will be a powerpoint presentation that presents your plan bulleting the highlights of your prior weeks’ papers. You may want to build one or two slides each week
