For this part of your midterm, let’s take the rhetorical tools you have learned about in this section and apply them to the world around you. In Part 2, you will be submitting a response that will demonstrate your understanding of the use of ethos, pathos, and/or logos in your community.
Directions
1. Choose a visual artifact that interests you from the list of images below.
2. Analyze its use of ethos, pathos, and logos. What was included in the visual artifact that reaches and moves the audience to create change?
You might consider such things as use of:
- color
- diction
- texture/surface
- images
- size of the art work
- display area
- allusions to other art
- and/or shapes
3. What elements make it a particularly useful way to reach the community?
4. As with your other essays, be sure to use MLA documentation and formatting
5. Use college level language and elimination of conversational tone
6. Careful proofreading to eliminate grammatical and spelling errors, typos, format problems
7. Don’t use outside sources for this assignment.
8. Length: at least 2 full pages (500 words) in MLA format organized into 3 paragraphs

Para 1: Briefly describe the image, tell your audience about the movement that the artwork is bringing to our attention, and explain why it is important to be aware of it.
Para 2 : Analyze the artwork’s use of ethos, pathos, and/or logos. What was included in the visual artifact that reaches and moves the audience to create change? You might consider such things as use of: (color, texture/surface, images, size of the art work, display area, allusions to other art, and/or shapes).
