This the link for the virtual museum: https://docs.google.com/presentation/d/1zXKsV5yMrz…
You will write a short evidence-based reflective essay (no more than 5 pages) that relates two objects from our Virtual Museum to each other, and places them in context with the readings from our textbook. For this paper you may write on any of the posted contributions. To choose which objects to write about, you should review the linked site (see D2L for link) and pick what interests you the most.
Use the sources posted in the Virtual Museum and your textbook. You may also use up to 2 additional scholarly sources (books from the library, journal articles, not general websites).
In a coherent, well-structured essay you will address the following issues:
- Briefly identify the items from the Virtual Museum you have chosen to write about. Be sure to include important facts like dates, geographic places, and the names of individuals or groups associated with the items.
- Very briefly summarize the linked website sources. What are the articles or webpages about?
- How do the two items from the Virtual Museum relate to each other? What do they share in common? In what ways are they different from each other? Together, what story do they tell?
- Reflect on what is important about these items in relation to the historic events and themes discussed in our textbook. How does the linked website carry the story beyond the information in our textbook? Be sure to use specific details and examples from the website sources and our textbook.
- Reflect on whether or not these historic objects and sites are relevant to your life today.
- Reflect on what you have learned from contributing to the Virtual Museum.
- Guideline:
- Your essay should be double-spaced using a maximum of 12-point type. Please use a simple, clean font such as Times New Roman. Use normal margins on all sides and a standard left justification. Writing assignments are to be written following the rules of correct grammar and spelling, both of which will be taken into consideration in the evaluation of the essay. Be sure to proofread your writing as grammar and spell checks typically do not catch words used in incorrect contexts. Pages should be numbered. Writing assignments must be original AND analytical and should include well-thought-out responses to the questions posed in the assignment. An assignment should not be a string of quotes with limited analysis; rather, most of the essay should be in your own words with a few quotes to illustrate your points.
You must provide specific examples from the secondary and/or primary sources to support your main points. You MUST cite your sources following the MLA format.
