Miami Dade College Education & Teaching Who Am I Presentation

Description: Teaching is intuitive of our student’s culture. It involves learning about student’s culture and providing awareness of our diversity in order to develop social acceptance for others.

Directions: Students will complete an oral and visual, “Who Am I? Presentation” and it should be 4-5 minutes in length. The “Who Am I? Presentation will be an opportunity for students to explore and elevate their version of self and/or how they identify. Students will explore and discuss their cultural origins, family dynamics, educational experience, and elevate what they aspire to accomplish within their lifetime. Students will use technology via PowerPoint, Prezi, Animoto, Flip Grid, Moviemaker, EdJudo or iMovie to be shared with the class. The instructor will provide guided questions to assist and facilitate the presentation design process.

answer the following overarching questions:

  • Who are you?
    • Family lineage/ roots, family ethnic/cultural background, SES, family educational and life history
    • What is your understanding of self? How do you identify?
    • Speak to your educational biography/journey
    • Moments that have shaped you into who you are
  • Why are you here?
    • What do you feel called to do in this “lifetime”?
    • What impact do you want to have?
    • What do you want to be known for?
  • Where are you going?
    • What are you hopeful for?
    • What’s your vision for yourself, family, community, and leadership right now and in the future?Mastery performance is evidenced by the inclusion of a family tree tracing three maternal/paternal generations.
