Activity 1: Pick a Structure
Here is a list of well-known companies: Starbucks, Sephora, Apple, Google, Toyota, Capital One, Intel, Bank of America, and Boeing. Pick two of those companies. For each company you have chosen, your team should decide what kind of organizational structure the company uses, and then defend their choice. Your team will need to consider the company’s industry, operations, need for innovation, type of workforce, and so forth. The companies may or may not publish organizational charts for you to use as “answers” to this activity. For example, Starbucks does not publish a chart, but lists its executives on a company fact sheet against which you can compare your own deductions. You are if fact assigned to do your own research on each of these companies you have chosen for your answers.
