For this assignment, identify an agency/program in your area that serves mental health populations (people with mental health issues, mental illness or mental disorders)
Do some homework on the agency and find out as much as you can about them and who they serve (i.e., Internet search, library, etc.). For the questions below that you cannot answer, contact the agency/program and ask to speak with someone who can provide the appropriate information.
The object of your research is to prepare you to give an overview of the following:

- Describeanystigmaordiscriminationthatthepeopleservedbythisagencyfaceor deal with and how it impacts services and/or treatment
- Howmanydoestheagencyserve?
- Howaretheyfunded?
- Howdoestheagencyservethispopulation–i.e.,whattypesofservicesareprovided – outpatient, inpatient, emergency intervention, etc?
- Whataretheobstaclestheagencyfacesinservingthispopulation?
- Whatdoestheagencyfeelitneedsinordertomakeanimpactwiththepopulation that it serves?
- Whatservice/treatmentgapsexistinthecommunityforthepeopleservedbythisprogram?
After you have spoken with the agency/program, think about the following:
Do you think that people served by this program suffer the consequences of stigma or discrimination? Explain your answer.
To complete the assignment:
- Summarize your findings and personal thoughts in the Mental Health ServicesTreatment in Your Community Discussion Forum (maximum 300 words – abulleted summary of services available is acceptable here).
