Medieval Movie Handout
Pick one of the movies from the list on the Medieval List and watch it. Answer the
following questions thoroughly and thoughtfully. Follow your Style Sheet. Remember
to name your file correctly when you submit it.
1. In a few sentences, summarize the main action of the film (and indicate the film
you chose). This should be brief, think plot summary.
2. Did you like the movie? Why or why not?
3. How was medieval life represented in the film? Did this representation fit with
your concept of what medieval life was like?
4. After looking at the Medieval Art modules and this film, what were the
differences from real life and Hollywood’s version? What were the similarities?
5. Did this movie add to your understanding of the medieval period? Why or why
not?
6. What about this portrayal of the story makes it feel contemporaneous and up-todate? (Why would someone be interested in it today?)
7. Would you recommend this movie to other students interested in learning more
about the medieval period? Why or why not?
