After solving problem 3, code the solution into MATLAB and publish your solution to a pdf file. Scan your neatly organized hand solution to problem 3 and combine it and the published MATLAB solution into one pdf file. Submit said pdf file to this assignment. Problem 3 is the only problem you will hand in for which you will receive credit. To prepare for quizzes & possible exams, it is best to solve Dowling’s Example Problems 1 – 5 (and check his solutions) IN ADDITION TO solving the seven problems listed in the document.
NOTE: IN FRACTURE MECHANICS PROBLEMS, YOU WILL BE USING THE “EXACT F” EQUATIONS, AND SOME OF THEM HAVE TRIGONOMETRIC FUNCTIONS EMBEDDED. BE SURE TO INPUT THE ARGUMENT IN RADIANS AND NOT DEGREES. If you know the definition of “F”, which, of course, you should, you will be alerted to this because if you use units of degrees for the argument, you will get a value for “F” less than 1.0. Please do not fall into that trap, and please, please, please know your definitions!
