Read the Ethics case on page 255 of the textbook under the heading “Bonus Lost Because of the Statute of Frauds” then discuss the following with your classmates?
1. Why is the case “Sawyer v. Mills” considered an Ethics case by the author of your textbook?
2. The trial judge in the case wrote “The end result may not seem fair to Sawyer.” yet one of the goals of our legal system is fairness. Do you agree that the result is not fair? Why or why not?
3. What could Ms Sawyer have done to better protect herself? What could the legal system have done to help her get her a better result?
