Instructions: Identify a problem within your span of control that is fairly complex either personally or professionally and work through the instructions below.
1) Write your problem definition.
2) Identify what problem solving technique you are using to solve the problem. Explain your reason for selecting that technique.
3) Using that problem solving technique as your format, methodically work through the problem, explaining each step/stage and your thought process. Be sure to include the following as a minimum:
a) Research that needed to be completed to get the data you needed.
b) Identify the root cause of the problem.
c) Brainstorm a list of possible solutions.
d) Explain how you selected your optimal solution.
e) Explain how you avoid problem-solving traps.
g) Identify stakeholders in the problem solving process.
h) Describe how you will implement your solution and what checks you will put in place to ensure that the problem won’t reoccur.
