Make a research PPT for Anthropology

Choose a research question to ask, decide how to collect data, and analyze the results. You will need a sample size of at least 15 people.

Topic:

Try something new for 10 days! As you have been learning, humans are great at asking questions, making connections, and trying new things. But we are also creatures of habit. Explore our remarkable abilities to change by trying something new or breaking a habit for at least 10 days. Get on task, break an addiction, eat healthy, start exercising, learn an instrument or a language … whatever you think might make your life a little bit better – go for it! If you are working in a group, everyone in the group should embark on the same challenge so that you can more easily compare your data with one another.

Requirement

Submit written presentation slides or a video/narrated presentation (~5-7 min). If you submit presentation slides, make sure there is enough text on the slides to adequately convey the required information.

  1. Introduction: Discuss the challenge that you worked on for 10 days.
  2. Barriers: What barriers (sweet & fatty foods, social media feeds, Netflix binges, etc.) did you need to change for the next 10 days to successfully complete this task?
  3. Routine: The human brain has a difficult time making logical decisions about all behaviors, so we tend to prioritize familiar behaviors over new ones. As a result, routinized behaviors often feel natural to us. Reflect on your normal routines and the new routine you were trying to build for 10 days. What do you think you really need at the moment when you start your routine?
  4. Results/Conclusions: What happened? What changes did you make in your environment to improve your success? For example, one individual who wanted to exercise more by riding his bike rather than driving decided to put his car keys on a high shelf that required a ladder.
