Collection of Essays Project – Argumentation-Persuasion Essay
Learning Plans 6-10 in this course will build on completing a Collection of Essays Project. For this Learning Plan, you need to complete the following steps for writing the last essay – an Argumentation-Persuasion Essay – for your Collection of Essays Project.
STEP 1: USE the ARGUMENTATION-PERSUASION: A PREWRITING CHECKLIST on page 402 in your textbook to begin the prewriting process for your Argumentation-Persuasion Essay.
STEP 2: DETERMINE your Audience, Purpose, and Approach.
NOTE: REFERENCE Chapter 2 in your textbook for information about Audience and Purpose. Your Approach will either be informative or persuasive.
STEP 3: DEVELOP your thesis statement.
NOTE: REFERENCE Chapter 3 in your textbook for information about thesis statements.
STEP 4: IDENTIFY the information needed to support your thesis statement.
NOTE: REFERENCE Chapter 18 in your textbook for more information about using argumentation-persuasion to write an essay.
STEP 5:ORGANIZE your work by creating an outline.
NOTE: REFERENCE Chapter 5 in your textbook.
STEP 6: DRAFT your Argumentation-Persuasion Essay based on your outline.
REMINDER:You MUST conduct research and cite at least 3 different published sources for this essay.
STEP 7: REVISE, EDIT, AND PROOFREAD your Argumentation-Persuasion Essay to finalize it. Be sure to create a title for your essay.
STEP 8: FOLLOW this Template for formatting your Collection of Essays Project. REFERENCE the Example of the Collection of Essays Project, which also shows the correct format.
NOTE: You MUST use 1-inch margins (left, right, top and bottom), Times New Roman font, 12-point type size for text, 14-point type size for titles, and 1.5 line spacing.
STEP 9: SEEK feedback from family members, friends, neighbors, and/or co-workers about your Argumentation-Persuasion Essay. CONSIDER their feedback, and MAKE any necessary revisions or edits.
STEP 10: REVIEW the Collection of Essays Project Scoring Guide to ensure that you are meeting the criteria; MAKE any necessary revisions or edits again.
STEP 11: SAVE your Argumentation-Persuasion Essay. You will be submitting it as part of your Collection of Essays Project at the conclusion of LP10.
NOTE: You will be submitting your Collection of Essays for a final grade at the conclusion of Learning Plan 10; however, you may seek feedback about the essays that you write from me – the instructor – at the conclusion of each Learning Plan. I created a Dropbox basket so that you can request my “preliminary” feedback about your essays. This is an option, not a requirement.
