homas Jefferson is remembered for many things: writer of the Declaration of Independence, first secretary of state in the United States, second vice president of the United States, third president of the United States, architect of the University of Virginia, author of the Virginia statue on religious freedom, and other things. One of his major accomplishments as president was to purchase the Louisiana Territory from France.
