Los Angeles Valley College Mixing Primary Colors Activity Plan Discussion

I’m working on a writing case study and need an explanation and answer to help me learn.

Learning Objective:  Student will develop one activity (lesson) plan for children ages 3 to  8; with an emphasis on the content areas of math and science.

Guidelines:

  1. Select a theme/topic from the list provided by the instructor. Research and get familiar with the topic.
  2. Use the KWL chart to write what I know, what I found out, what I learned about the topic.
  3. Brainstorm (using a curricular web) DAP activities that would connect to the content areas of language/literacy, math, nutrition/cooking, science and social studies. Refer to chapter 3 for the web information/handouts.
  4. Determine the age group (children age  range 3 to 8 years) that you will focus on for the activity plan. The  activity will be a combination of math and science, DAP, hands-on and/or active learning. The activity needs to be aligned to the selected topic, the Preschool Learning Foundations for children ages 3 to 5 years or the California State Content Standards and/or the Common Core Standards for Kindergarten to Third grade.
  5. Refer to activity plan sample and handouts in chapter 3.
  6. Be mindful of the objective  development and structure for each activity for the curriculum web and  the activity plan. Refer to Bloom’s Taxonomy. Use active verbs  (handouts).
  7. Strongly reflect on the connection to theory section of the activity plan. Align the activity to the theories of development. Refer to chapter 1.
