For this assignment you will pick a song you are familiar
with and speed it up and slow it down. You will then write about your
observations on the emotional impact or mood change you noticed based on
these different tempos. Here’s what to do:
- find your song on YouTube
- select “settings” or “more” (
on laptop/desktop or
on mobile device)
- choose “playback speed” (it will currently say “normal”)
- select “0.5x” for half speed, “2x” for double speed, etc.
- listen to at least 1 minute of the song at a slower tempo
- listen to at least 1 minute of the song at a faster tempo
- list the song you chose and write a minimum of 50 words about each speed (total 100 words) on your observations about the emotional impact of each speed. (Did the tempo make the song sadder, happier, angrier, funnier? etc.)
