Los Angeles Valley College Addressing Inequality in The ECE Classroom Discussion

Through the social-community action
project, students will analyze a local community, identify issues in
that community, and practice methods learned in class to advocate for
social justice.

I expect that your discussions throughout this project reflect the reading and theories that you have learned in the course

PART ONE

Identify an advocacy challenge or opportunity – choose one of the following issues to address:

1. 1. Race Bias in the ECE classroom
   2. Racial Hate Crimes – How do we address this with children
   3. Inequity (Race and SES) – How to
      address this in the ECE classroom (think books, space, what do you want
      the classroom to look like, music, etc.)
   4. Children at the US border separated
      from their families. How do we address the issue in the ECE classroom
      and with parents. Please think of all involved
   5. School to Prison Pipeline. How do we address this in the ECE classroom and in the community?
