Reflection #3: (based on your reading of chapters 3, 4 and 6 of A Mind at a Time)
We have learned a whole new way of thinking about the important roles of attention, memory, and sequencing in these chapters! They are incredibly important for children for school success and for success in everyday life skills! Understanding of ourselves and our students as they relate to strengths and challenges in these areas seems so critical for teachers! What stands out to you as an important insight from reading each of these chapters? Discuss and provide examples.
Reflection #4: (based on your reading of chapters 5 and 8 of A Mind at a Time)
In many ways it seems that a child’s ability to use the many functions of language can truly define a child’s success in school. Would you agree with that statement? Dr. Levine discusses so many aspects of language that are essential to success. Additionally, higher level thinking is certainly what the ultimate goal is of our school system – the ability to think critically and creatively. What stands out to you as an important insights?
