This lab report pertains the the THYROID PHYSIOLOGY portion of the Physio Ex handout.
You are NOT required to have a data or procedures section because this was an online lab.
Your lab report must be written in complete sentences and must cite
at least 2 primary sources (textbook, peer reviewed journal, etc.
Websites, class notes, and lab handouts/manuals do not count.) You must
paraphrase your resources. You are expressly not allowed to do a
word-for-word quote.
References must be in APA format (with a reference page at the end).
If you are not familiar with APA formatting you can use this website to
help: http://www.citationmachine.net/apa (Links to an external site.)
Lab reports in this class should be 3-4 pages of writing, include graphs as necessary, and have a single APA reference page.
You are provided the grading rubric for Lab Report 1 to assist you in
writing your lab report. There will be no rubric provided prior to
submission for reports 2 and 3.
Your lab report should include (in this order):
ABSTRACT: a short paragraph summary of the data collected and conclusions made. This should be about 1 full paragraph.
BACKGROUND/INTRODUCTION: an explanation of the known physiology of
the hypothalamic-pituitary- thyroid reflex loop, including examples and
explanations of hyper- and hypo- secretion pathologies. This should be
about a full page.
DATA ANALYSIS: explain the data gathered for all sections of the
thyroid lab performed (there are NO GRAPHS for this lab report, but you
must make tables of all the data gathered)
CONCLUSIONS: what was learned from the experiment? summary of the
data gathered, application of information to human health care. This
should refer back to data gathered, background physiology, and
current/future applications to human health. There should be a lot of
explanation in this section.
