On the right-hand side of the page, you will see currently reported statistics; the left-hand side of the page contains a list to support browsing. Click on “LPC Tables and Charts”. Under Charts and Dashboards, click on Industry Productivity Viewer.
Under the Select one or more industries section, click RETAIL TRADE. Scroll down to Nonstore retailers and click the box at that line item..
Under Select one or more measures to compare, click the box at Labor productivity and Unit labor costs.
Now click Graph current selection.
Looking at the graph, what do you notice about the labor productivity vs. the unit labor costs?
What specific companies can you think of that would be considered a “nonstore retailer”?
What has happened to demand for the goods produced in this industry since 1987?
Thinking about what has happened in the industry since 1987, how has this apparently impacted productivity in the industry?

2. Now, see if you can locate the industry that exists in the market that you are writing about in your research paper. If you have looked through the industry options and still need help identifying what that industry might be, you may contact your instructor to ask for some assistance.
Again click on that industry, the labor productivity and unit labor costs and graph current selection.
Describe what has happened in your chosen industry with respect to productivity and unit labor costs.
Relate that trend to the demand for the goods produced in this industry.
