Assignment 1: Defining the Learning Environment

Write a five to six (5-6) page paper in which you:
- Provide an overview of the organization for which you are to develop the training. The overview should include, at a minimum, the organization’s mission, vision, management structure, corporate culture, geographic location(s), community involvement, and experience in providing training and development activities.
- Specify the task(s) for which the training is being developed. Analyze the most significant elements or steps for performing each task and examine the importance the task(s) to the organization’s overall mission.
- Describe at least five (5) characteristics of the intended audience for the training. For example, describe the number of potential learners, type of learners, reading levels, gender, ages, culture, language(s) they use, and attitude toward learning. Evaluate the intended audience’s level of familiarity with technology overall.
- Assess the degree to which the members of your intended audience are self-directed in their learning overall. Suggest the manner in which their self-directedness—or lack thereof—may affect the likelihood that they would successfully compete the training.
- Select the theoretical basis for the planned training (i.e., andragogy or one of the other theoretical models on adult learning). Provide a rationale for your selection.
- Propose at least two (2) strategies to incorporate key aspect of the selected theoretical model into the design and delivery of the planned training.

Assignment 2: Planning the Training

Write a five to six (5-6) page paper in which you:
- Outline the most significant elements or steps of the task upon which the training will focus (See Assignment 1). Using the selected adult learning theory from Assignment 1, analyze the how the theory would support the learners’ mastery of the task. Justify your response.
- Propose one or more instructional settings for the training being planned based on the nature of the task(s) and the selected theoretical model (e.g., instructor-led in a classroom or self-directed online.) Provide a rationale for the setting(s) selected.
- Propose instructional activities to deliver training on the task(s) that are consistent with the selected theoretical model, the intended audience’s characteristics, and the selected training setting. Instructional activities would include the instruction strategies and methods used to teach the tasks, instructional resources (media, materials, technology) needed to teach the task, and student activities needed to learn competent performance of task.
- Indicate all needed technology components that you plan to integrate into the training. Determine how the selected adult learning theory could influence your technology selection. Recommend strategies that you would use in order to accommodate the learners who may not be familiar with technology.
- Propose a timeline for development and implementation of the training, providing a rationale for your views. Determine how the selected theoretical model and the intended audience characteristics could influence the time needed to develop and teach the identified tasks.
- Propose three (3) strategies for evaluating the effectiveness of the training during and after development. Determine how the selected theoretical model and the intended audience characteristics could influence your evaluation strategies.

Project Presentation
- Present your Training Plan using a presentation software tool with at least ten (10) main topics / slides in your presentation.
- Include a title slide and references section. Note: These two (2) slides are not part of the ten (10) slide requirement.
- Develop a creative, appealing presentation for a professional audience, using two to three (2-3) colors, two to three (2-3) fonts, and two to three (2-3) visuals in your presentation.
- Provide coherent, clear, organized, and substantive content that can be easily understood by the audience.
- Provide audio narration of the presentation slides as if you were delivering the speech. Note: If you do not have access to a microphone, then you should provide detailed speaker notes with your presentation.
- Create a section of the presentation in which you:

Assignment 4: Reflection: Theories into Practice

For this assignment, you will reflect on the present adult learning theories that you have studied in the course. You will use such reflections in order to develop your own theory and then speculate upon the future of adult education theories.
Write a five to six (5-6) page paper in which you:
- Analyze the strengths and weaknesses of three (3) adult learning theories that you have studied throughout the course. Evaluate the soundness of each theory in the way it addresses its target learner audience, related teaching and learning environment, and the adult learning processes.
- Develop your own adult learning theory in which you:
- Indicate related theories to which you subscribe and thus have influenced your new theory. Justify your response.
- Describe the target learner audience, related teaching and learning environment, and the learning processes that your new theory seeks to address.
- Determine the primary manner in which your theory would serve a particular population.
- Analyze the existing void within adult learning theories that your new theory seeks to fill.
- Predict the future path of the field of adult education, and suggest whether or not existing learning theories—including yours—would address the challenges of serving a diverse adult learner population. Provide a rationale for your response.
