Course Description: This course is an
introduction to Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems emphasizing
an integrated strategy for the management and integration of information
among organizations, suppliers, and customers.
1. What have you discovered in this course about ERP systems and their ability to impact the business?
You can use this as a reference to answer this question: This course encompasses all things ERP and is organized around our text, Modern ERP: Select, Implement and Use Today’s Advanced Business Systems.
The course begins with an introduction to ERP, followed by ERP
technology, business process reengineering (BPR), and process mapping.
To appreciate the myriad of activities involved in an ERP project, we then cover in detail the ERP life cycle—planning, package selection,
implementation, and operation and maintenance. Cases provide practical application of the material. While you are gaining a solid foundation in
ERP systems and what it takes to implement them, we will also access training modules in the SAP portal. You will earn training
certificates in ERP functionality and work through assignments in SAP
Business One core modules. The on-campus lecture course concludes with a
project using SAP Business One, the #1 cloud ERP system for small and midsize businesses, to give you an idea of how an ERP system intended for smaller businesses works.
2. What issues have you noticed in your current company or past organization that may be or could have been solved with a modern ERP system?

How well prepared was the typical American business for the coming shock of lost jobs and income, in light of a decade of debt-deleveraging, continuous job growth, and low unemployment? What role do you believe that ERP systems would have contributed to the business and supply chains remaining viable?
