Students will write a major paper detailing his/her views on various ethical situations. The paper will display the students understanding of how Christian faith effects the way that believers live and relate to various social/ethical issues. In the paper, students will address two (2) bioethical situations, one (1) racial issue, one (1) LGBT related situation, and two (2) other situations of his/her choice. The free choice sections can be from the LGBT, racial, or bioethics categories as well, or can be from other areas of social ethics such as environmental ethics, sustainable food sourcing, etc.
The paper requirements are as follows:
- The paper must be a minimum of 8 pages (excluding cover page and bibliography), double spaced, written in 12pt Times New Romans font, with standard 1” boarders.
- The paper must use proper APA formatting.
- The paper must reference at least 6 academic sources (scholarly books, articles, presentations, etc. Popular sources such as blogs, Wikipedia, and the like are not acceptable) beyond course texts in the paper.
- The paper will include sections on the following:
- Bioethics x2
- Free Selection x2
- Racial Issue
- LGBT Issue
- The paper should have a conclusion describing how Christian Ethics is rooted in the concept of love for the neighbor. This conclusion should display points brought up throughout the paper.
- Succinctly describe the social/ethical concerns related to the topic
- Discuss what passages of scripture, if any, directly address and inform how he/she addresses this issue
- Discuss any other passages of scripture that might indirectly address how he/she addresses this issue
