Class as we move into Unit 3 (on Congress) I believe the best place for you to start is by doing your own reading and interpretation of Article I of the US Constitution. It’s probably the best thing you can read to give you a sense of what the job of Congress is (or at least was) intended to be.
Of course, the institution has evolved over time, and we will discuss that at length in the next couple of weeks. However, before we get started I want you to read the basic framework of the document which will serve as a foundation for our future conversations.
So give Article I a close read. Here’s the link.
Then read it again and for each section write a paragraph or two which summarizes that section.
Also, note any questions or curiosities you have, and put those at the end of your document.
