Hypothesis

For example:The hypothesis might state that the fish tank loses water because of a leak.

Prediction

Based on the hypothesis, the prediction indicates the outcome. This is an if-then statement that defines the test.

For example:“If I seal all edges of my fish tank to prevent leaks, then the tank will not lose water.”

Conclusion

The conclusion details the findings of the testing. What happened when you tested your hypothesis?

For example:You will note whether the tank is still losing water or is now stable.

ResultsThe result is tied back to the hypothesis. Was the hypothesis refuted or supported? Do you need to ask another question?

For example:If you sealed all edges and the tank still lost water, the result would be that your prediction is incorrect and your hypothesis is refuted. At this point, you would need to state another hypothesis and prediction.
