Personal use of Social Media. 25 points
Write a brief report (1 page) about the social media services that you use. Select at least three of those services and discuss how you use them.
Explain why (or why not) you use those services:
what motivates you to use them,
what type of content you share and read,
how often you share on each service,
how often you read other content,
how often you comment on other posts,
what types of posts interest you most.
Organizational use of Social Media. 50 points
Select a company/organization/government agency, briefly describe what it does and its presence on social media. Your report must be at least two pages long.
To begin you need to visit the company’s website and explore social media links or search the social media sites (Twitter, Facebook, Pinterest, Instagram, YouTube, LinkedIn etc.) for this company.
Document what social media services the company uses and the number of followers for each.
Answer the following questions:
a. How often does this company post to each service?
b. Who are the target audience of its posts?
c. Which business processes are supported by the social media for this organization? (see Chapter 10 section Q5 in your textbook for a discussion of business processes supported by social media). Listat least two business processes that are supported by the social media for this organization. For each business process that you identify provide an example of interactions/posts from the social media site. Use Print Screen function to capture the page image if necessary and paste it into your report.
d. How does the company’s use of social media helpbuild social capital? Provide an example of how social media supports each of three social capital objectives (see Chapter 10 section Q6). Use Print Screen function to capture the page image if necessary.
e. Do you think this company is successful in its use of social media? Why or why not?
f. What are your recommendations for improving their social media use?
