Discussion Question:

This last discussion asks you to reflect on the value of what you learned in this short course. We have covered the components of information literacy, which gives you much to think about.

What is the most important thing you have learned that you will apply to future courses?

Which of the components seem easy? Which seem difficult and will take more practice?

What questions do you have about any of the concepts?

Respond to the following discussions from peers once Discussion Question is posted;

I believe the most important thing I learned was how to use the Boolean Logic to do thorough research. I believe it will benefit me greatly in my courses to come.

I think just doing APA 7th edition citations is difficult and will need to have more practice because the last time I sited in APA was for 6th edition and I was used to that format.

What questions do you have about any of the concepts?

At this time I have no further questions, everything was explained and displayed in an organized manner. I was able to learn the material quite easily without any hiccups. Thank you for the course ma’am and I hope you have a great day.

One of the most important things that I learned in LIBS150 was how to construct a successful search strategy. I learned the importance of developing a solid research question and how to use Boolean logic to narrow down search results. I learned how to use library databases such as the UMGC Library OneSearch to find relevant articles and scholarly journals. I also learned how to evaluate resources to ensure for quality, accuracy, relevance, bias, reputation, and credibility.

To me developing a search strategy is easy. This course taught me how to layout my search strategy ideas clearly with a chart. I think this is something I will definitely utilize for research assignments with future courses. I think that evaluating resources is difficult and takes practice. Some resources appear reliable at first glance but upon further examination often times there are flaws in the source. It takes practice and repetition to evaluate quality resources.

What questions do you have about any of the concepts?
