Incarceration of Latino Youths Involved in Drug Trade Paper

Approved & Final Research Question- How do you think current drug laws contribute to re-incarceration of Latino youths involved in drug trade within the Los Angeles area

Make sure this section includes all of the following:

  • – What were your parameters (or, what particular population did you recruit)?
  • – How will you / did you recruit your research participants?
  • – What were the specific characteristics of your interviewees – demographics, etc. (not needed until

    Final Draft)?

  • – Why did you choose this particular population? What do they have to offer that’ll help answer your

research question and fill in the ‘gap’ you’ve identified? Why them and not some other group?

  • – What specific research method did you use (in our case, it’s in-depth, semi-structured interviews)
  • – What sort of things will you ask about in your interviews? What was the reason you asked these

questions – or, what was the goal of this particular set of questions; how do you expect them to answer your research question?

  • Tips:

Be sure that this paragraph transitions well out of the literature review. By that I mean, the literature review should have ‘set you up’ to talk about this particular study. Based on the literature review, it should be obvious to the reader why you chose this population and asked them these questions.

Refer to the sample article by Leisy Abrego to get a sense of what a good methods section should look like.(attached)

  • Things I will be looking for when grading:
  • – Did you include all of the necessary information?
  • – Is the necessary information of sufficient quality (e.g., does it look like you set yourself up to collect “good” data)?
  • – Is it clear that your methods align with your research question?
  • – Is the paper clearly written, free of grammatical errors, and properly cited (if necessary)?
