Group Discussion #4: Assessing Quality and Summarizing the Evidence
Directions: Group members will discuss study characteristics, risk of bias, results of individual studies, risk across studies, and synthesis of evidence gathered for systematic literature review. (MO4.1-4.2, 4.4)
Expectations: Students are required to participate in this course through the discussion board with the faculty member and course peers. Students are expected to read all assigned materials prior to posting a message. Topical discussion board questions are posted, which correspond to assigned modular readings and group assignments. Groups of 2-3 students are responsible for initiating and conducting a rigorous discussion of the assigned readings as it relates to their group projects. Each group discussion will reflect critical analysis of the readings and research evidence, be written in scholarly language, follow APA format, and help build upon the various steps of the systematic literature review leading to a final project.
Grading: Group discussions will be posted weekly according to the course schedule. Students’ contributions will be monitored weekly and evaluated and graded summatively at the end of the course by the faculty member using the attached summative discussion board rubric for a total of 20 points or 20% of your overall grade. There are 7 group discussion boards (each worth 2.86 pts.). Less than rigorous participation in all group discussions will affect students course participation grade.
